Previous Related MeetingsGMOD meeting: Date: April 26-28 2004.Meeting Agenda: now available on GMOD site. Sequence Annotation Focus The next Generic Model Organism Database meeting will take place at the Sheraton Commander Hotel in Cambridge, MA (Harvard Square) on April 26-28. This meeting will be a combined developer/curator meeting, with workshops for both groups. For curators, there will be a day and a half workshop focused on sequence annotation (including "Bring your own genome"). For developers, there will be a workshop focusing on installing and using the current release of the "GMOD suite." A full agenda will be available soon. The first 1/2 day of the sequence annotation workshop is for discussions of issues that face genome sequence annotators, including balancing computational and manual annotation, consistency and SOPs for annotation, and words of wisdom from those who have annotated genomes (e.g. common pitfalls). The second full day of the sequence annotation workshop will be a hands-on training and feedback session using the Apollo genome annotation tool. Participants will need to bring a laptop with wireless card, Apollo installed, and their sequence with computational results to annotate. Tutorials will help users get the most of the advanced editing features in the tool, and Apollo developers will be on hand to get feedback from users about features to add in the future. GMOD has arranged for a group rate on rooms at the Sheraton ($135/night). In order to get the group rate, you must make your reservations by *March 26* by calling 1-888-627-7121 and telling the reservation agent that the reservation is for the GMOD conference. If you are interested in attending, please contact GMOD Coordinator Scott Cain at cain@cshl.org.
